The Dubai Metro has notched up one hundred million passengers in just over two years of operation. It is a major milestone for the network, which officially launched in September 2009. The opening of the green line in September also served to push commuter figures up, and now accounts for 30% of total passenger numbers. The Union, Khalid bin Al Waleed, Deira City Center and Mall of the Emirates are amongst the stations that contribute to the biggest share of passenger numbers on the Red Line.
The Dubai Metro network has revolutionized commuting in the city, making it quick, convenient and more affordable. One of the city’s busiest stops, the Mall of the Emirates, is also just a two minute ride away from the business district of Tecom. The area is home to The First Group’s three hotel apartment developments; Metro Central, Grand Central and the recently launched First Central. Metro Central occupies one of the best commuting zones in the city, right in front of the Tecom Metro station, while the other two developments are merely a few minutes walk away.
