Consumers and businesses across the UAE are to receive a 4G network by the end of the year as the nation's data traffic has soared.Dubai-based telecommunications company the Emirates Integrated Telecommunications Company, familiarly known as Du, has announced plans to introduce 4G technology and help the country become even more competitive with other nations.Indeed, it will deliver greater speeds to users and allow them to transfer larger volumes of data.Speaking at a telecoms conference in Dubai, Hatem Bamatraf, senior vice-president for network development and operations technology at Du, told Dow Jones of the company's plans to introduce long-term evolution technology, claiming that the maximum delay in delivery would be one month. It was not confirmed how much the investment will cost Du, but Mr Bamatraf added: "We have a deal in place with Nokia Siemens and Huawei."Improving the UAE's technology is an important aspect to boosting its economy and the Roads and Transport Authority has even discussed introducing a Wi-Fi network on Dubai's public transport in order to attract younger passengers.
