Retailers sign up to Yas Island mall development

Five major UAE retailers have signed up to set open stores in the new Yas Mall in Abu Dhabi.Developer of Yas Mall, Aldar Properties, confirmed to Dow Jones of the progress it is making to create one of the emirate's biggest and best shopping destinations.Yas Mall is still set to open in the fourth quarter of 2013 at a cost of around AED 2 billion.The deal with five retail groups, which includes Landmark Group and Dubai Holding Group, will account for more than 40 per cent of the retail space at the shopping centre.Mohamed Al Mubarak, deputy chief executive and chief commercial officer at Aldar, told the news provider: "Yas Mall is set to transform the UAE's retail experience."Following our delivery of the IKEA store earlier this year, we are thrilled to be pushing forward once more in the development of this exciting super regional mall."The site covers 235,000 square metres of retail space, as well as a multiplex cinema and restaurants. It will also be connected to Ferrari World Abu Dhabi and will have road connections to Abu Dhabi and Dubai.
