Pay rises expected in UAE next year

People working in the UAE can expect a pay rise next year, according to one consultancy. From 2012, employees in Dubai and other emirates can expect to earn on average 5.2 per cent more than they are currently receiving. This is according to human resource consulting and outsourcing solutions firm Aon Hewitt, which places the UAE among the average anticipated salary rises in the Gulf Cooperation Council.Throughout the Middle East, salaries are expected to increase by 6.3 per cent on average next year, Emirates 24/7 reported. However, Cliff Single, commercial manager at BAC Middle East told the news provider: "Our opinion is that most companies will hold off on salary increases until the current macroeconomic uncertainty is alleviated. As such, we anticipate salary rates to hold steady in the near and medium term."Dubai's businesses may be reliant on the global economy because an increasing number of investors from across the world are coming to the emirate. It was reported yesterday that Canadian property investors have become the latest nation to realise the investment opportunities in Dubai.
