Dubai to welcome top swimmers for event this weekend

Dubai will welcome some of the world's top swimmers this weekend as they prepare for next year's Olympic Games in London.The event, taking place at the Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Sports Complex over the next two days, will see swimmers from 30 different countries taking part, including Dutch sprinter Ranomi Kromowidjojo, The National reports.Furthermore, the event could be of interest to people considering Dubai property investment as it shows the emirate is now attracting top-level sporting events.Speaking about the weekend's competition, Ranomi Kromowidjojo told the news provider that London 2012 is now the focus."But I'm looking forward to swimming in Dubai, especially to see and feel where I am right now," she explained."I really like Dubai with its warm weather and super accommodation and obviously I have great memories about my races last year, since they came so soon after my recovery from meningitis."Elsewhere, Dubai Metro use is on the rise according to new figures that show 1.277 million passengers used the Green Line during the first 20 days of the month.
