Dubai’s hotel industry is yet again counting the profits. This September, hotels in the emirate witnessed a 20.4% rise in revenue per available room compared to the same period last year, according to a recent report by London research firm, STR Global. Also driving this success was an influx of new airline routes at Dubai International Airport, which pushed passenger traffic up by 6.2%.
During the month of September, around 4.2 million people passed through Dubai terminals, up from 2.9 million the year before. Overall, the first nine months of 2011 also saw passenger numbers increase by 7.8% on 2010 figures to reach 37.5 million. The continued influx of visitors spells good news for Dubai’s hotel industry, which continues to go from strength to strength this year. The First Group recently joined the buzzing hotel market with the launch of First Central, a prestigious hotel apartment development based in the ‘New Dubai’ area of Tecom.
