Work on a Dh1 billion hotel on Dubai’s Palm Jumeirah is back on track. The Al Habtoor group put construction of the 330-room development on hold three years ago due to the economic crisis. With tourism and the hotel market in the city positively booming, the group feel the ‘time is right’ to restart the venture.
The news also follows the recent announcement from developers of the Palm, Nakheel, who plan to start work on a townhouse development off the "trunk" of the man-made island. Two new Zabeel Saray also recently opened on the Palm – the One&Only resort at the end of last year, and Jumeirah Zabeel Saray at the start of this year. The Habtoor hotel, which is due to open in 2013, will add to Dubai’s already thriving hotel industry, which continues to enjoy high occupancy levels. The announcements also serve as yet more proof that Dubai has emerged from the economic downturn.
