Dubai eGovernment has confirmed that its government information network (GIN) has been upgraded in line with the commitment to improve access to e-services across the emirate.
The GIN upgrade was performed using advanced cloud computing technology to connect both local government departments in Dubai and regular clients, Trade Arabia reported.
"This involved increasing capacity by up to 300 per cent for the main network lines in order to meet the growing demand for e-services, adopting advanced technologies that meet the highest international standards, and accommodating additional capabilities required by the introduction of new services in local departments to cater to the future needs of all community segments," commented Ahmed Bin Humaidan, director general of Dubai eGovernment.
He noted that GIN currently serves as the "cornerstone" of the government's electronic infrastructure for effectively transferring information and handling transactions.
Meanwhile, Matar Al Humairi, director of Dubai's infrastructure management department, claimed that the upgrades would enable highly-efficient servicing of departmental business 24 hours a day.
