Members of the Dubai Chamber saw their exports and re-exports rise by a collective 14 per cent during the first half of 2010 compared to the same period last year, new figures show.
Official data also revealed that 5,098 new members joined the Dubai Chamber in the first half of this year - up 19 per cent on the 4,289 recorded in the first six months of 2009.
In addition, the figures show that the number of certificates of origin issued by the Chamber to its members this year rose by seven per cent to reach 318,557 by the end of June.
Hamad Buamim, the director-general of Dubai Chamber, said that the results for the first half of the year were proof to the world "that Dubai's business environment is as strong as ever and the emirate is a viable investment destination".
In the first six months of 2010, Dubai Chamber received 71 global trade delegations comprising 511 businessmen from a range of countries including Australia, Brazil, France, India, Italy, Japan, Saudi Arabia, Russia, Singapore, South Africa, Turkey and the US and UK.
