Dubai grows its share of budget hotel market

Dubai is becoming an increasingly popular destination among budget hotel chains, a tourism official has said.

Speaking to the Khaleej Times, Sherif Madkour, general manager of Centro Barsha by Rotana, observed that affordable hotels are now in such demand among corporate travellers in the UAE that even Rotana is targeting to set at $100 its package room rate.

"We have a soft opening now at Dh333 until Ramadan ends. After that, we will slowly raise the rate to Dh350 then peg it at $100," he added.

Mr Madkour, who was speaking at the opening of Centra Barsha, noted that many companies now want to cut down on the cost of business travel by booking staff into three-star hotels.

He claimed that customers to Central Barsha would pay for a three-star hotel but still enjoy the facilities, amenities and services of a four-star option.

The news comes after Gulf News reported this week that Auris Hotel Management is preparing to launch a series of hotels in Dubai which aim to present guests with a new level of technology and comfort. ADNFCR-2019-ID-19892730-ADNFCR
