At least six companies are thought to have submitted bids for the estimated Dh2 billion main contract on the Presidential Palace project in Abu Dhabi.
The contract is estimated to be worth Dh 2 billion while the total project is valued at Dh 6 billion, Emirates Business 24/7 reported.
According to the news provider, the new complex will be located between the existing presidential palace and the Emirates Palace Hotel and will cover a total built-up area of about 220,000 square metres.
The existing palace is currently used by the federal government for hosting cabinet meetings and other government functions.
Ewan Architectural & Engineering Consultancy is the architect for the project while UK-based WSP has been appointed as the main engineering firm. It is thought the bidding for the Dh 2 billion contract closed earlier this month.
Meanwhile, the Khaleej Times reported this week that the long-awaited Free Trade Agreement between the Gulf Cooperation Council and the European Union is likely to be signed next month.
