The Dubai Chamber of Commerce & Industry has announced that the total exports of its 4,645 members during April this year reached a combined value of AED 16.8 billion - a 13 per cent increase on the same month in 2009.
In addition, the Dubai Chamber revealed that the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) remained its largest export destination, accounting for about AED 8.1 billion in exports or 48 per cent of the total value during the month.
Among the GCC countries, exports to the free zone markets in the UAE and Bahrain expanded by seven per cent and 13 per cent during April to values of AED 1.3 billion and AED 352 million, respectively.
It was also revealed that exports to India grew slightly, from AED 537 million to AED 557 million.
Meanwhile, it was reported last week that DHL, one of the world's leading logistics companies, has expanded its air network to better link the UAE with Asia and Europe.
