Alshaya, one of the Middle East's leading retailers, has welcomed the opening of Mirdif City Centre, Dubai's newest mall.
The company said the mall - which features 29 brands - reflects its confidence in Dubai's retail sector, Dubai City Guide reported.
To mark the opening, Alshaya's executive chairman Mohammed Alshaya hosted a special VIP ribbon cutting ceremony which was attended by Sami Dhaen Al Qamzi, director general of Dubai's department of economic development as well as representatives from American Eagle International, Pottery Barn and Pottery Barn Kids -three iconic US brands which will make their debut in the Middle East at Mirdif City Centre.
Alshaya has invested approximately AED147 million in the new mall and has recruited and trained about 700 people to manage and staff the different stores.
"Mirdif City Centre underlines Dubai's position as the pre-eminent shopping destination in the Middle East," said Mr Alshaya.
This week, a report carried out by Business Monitor International and released by the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry put the UAE at the top of a retail league table for the Middle East and Africa.
