Dubai has been dubbed the natural hub for the Middle East by a British delegation to the nation.
According to UK minister for trade Lord Davies, the city-state is an ideal trading partner for Britain and is likely to remain so in the future.
Speaking at a networking event hosted by the British Business Group, Dubai and the Northern Emirates, Lord Davies said: "At the end of last year, the UK and UAE Government's made a commitment to increasing our bilateral trade to £12 billion by 2015, a 60 percent increase from current levels.
"I hope this visit moves us a step closer to achieving our new trade targets."
His comments were backed up by British Business Group chairman and chief executive officer Mark Beer who claimed that the high-level delegation underscores the UK's commitment to investing in the region.
Earlier this month, trade development firm Dulsco said that Dubai's IT sector has an excellent potential for growth.
