Abu Dhabi's president has ordered the distribution of 800 residential plots to UAE nationals in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and Western Region.

The initiative by His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan is designed to promote social and family stability in the emirate, WAM News Agency reported.

According to the news provider, the distribution of residential plots to deserved citizens is in line with the Abu Dhabi Vision 2030. This includes the aim of providing good living conditions to all citizens.

Abu Dhabi's municipal authorities have begun the implementation of Sheikh Khalifa's orders by constructing infrastructure, service and general premises.

These will "turn those new residential areas into model urban oases with high quality services, which include schools, police stations, health and curative units, mosques, social clubs, public parks, gardens and commercial malls", WAM News Agency said.

Statistics released last week by Abu Dhabi's customs department revealed that foreign trade increased by nine per cent in the emirate during 2009.
