Hotels in the Arab Gulf states have hit a record high in the popularity stakes, according to top hotel search engine, HotelsCombined.com. According to online trends, Dubai holds on to the top spot as the Gulf’s most popular destination with a 158% boost in interest this year, as it continues to attract both business and leisure travelers. Abu Dhabi followed in 2nd place with a rise of 141%. Elsewhere in the Gulf, Manama took 3rd place with a 108% increase, followed by Doha in 4th place with 118%.
“Despite the global economic challenges, we were pleasantly surprised when we concluded our analysis, to find that online demand for the major cities had increased significantly year-on-year. It's good to see that the region is as vibrant as ever," commented Hichame Assi, Head of Strategy and Online Marketing for HotelsCombined.ae.
As well as spelling good news for the region’s hotel industry profits, the research is also a confident boost for investors in the sector. The First Group has been quick to recognize the investment potential of buzzing Dubai’s hotel market. In addition to the finished Dubai Sports City development, The Diamond, The First Group has two more prestigious hotel apartment projects within the emirate - Metro Central and Grand Central, located in the new business hub of Tecom.
