flydubai, Dubai's first low-budget airline, is to expand its route into the Bangladeshi market in January.
It has announced that it will offer flights to Chittagong, Bangladesh's second-largest city, from January 17th.
Four flights a week will run to and from the city before operating daily from March 17th.
Chief executive of the airline Gaith Al Gaith said that the new route will provide easier travel for Bangladeshis living and working in the UAE and could increase trade and business between the two nations.
"The picturesque city of Chittagong boasts a busy international seaport and is an important economic and commercial hub of the country," he said.
"Bangladesh offers a wealth of historical and cultural options for travellers to explore and we are certain this new route will be immensely popular."
Last week flydubai confirmed its 30th destination, the agricultural city of Gassim in Saudi Arabia. Flights will operate from January 18th.
