Dubai Media City Goes from Strength to Strength

Dubai Media City (DMC) has ‘tremendous future potential’ according to a new report on the region’s Enterntainment and Media Market. PricewaterhouseCoopers forecasts the Pan-Arab region will witness a 16.5% annual growth rate in this sector over the next five years, largely thanks to the huge success of DMC.

The media hub first opened in 2001 with just 99 companies on board. Nearly a decade later, the area, which is part of the TECOM media cluster, is home to 1,400 companies and hundreds of freelancers. It also continues to attract investment from global brands, with big media names such as BBC, Reuters, Associated Press, Leo Burnett and Dow Jones all choosing DMC as their Middle East base. In 2009 DMC received the Newsweek Award of Excellence for its outstanding contribution to the media industry in ‘creating a world class environment under one roof.’ DMC is ideally located directly opposite the TECOM business zone, which is home to The First Group’s up and coming Metro Central and Grand Central Hotel Apartments.
