The government's Dh41 billion budget for 2011 will focus on education, health and social welfare systems after a UAE Cabinet meeting approved the budget this week.
Chaired by his Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, vice-president and prime minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, the Cabinet also agreed to a total three-year budget of Dh122 billion.
Funding will also be spent on future infrastructure projects, the Marriage Fund and the Sheikh Zayed Housing Programme, Emirates 24/7 reported.
Mr Al Maktoum noted that over the coming years, citizens and businesses in these industries must work to achieve greater progress and prosperity in the UAE.
Indeed, last week, it was revealed that over $4 billion of deals have been confirmed as a result of this year's Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Conference and Exhibition, bringing greater investment to the UAE energy market.
The event welcomed 38,000 visitors on day three - almost as many attendees as in the whole of the 2008 event.
