flydubai, Dubai's first low cost airline, yesterday (October 20th) notched up its 24th destination after landing in Samara, Russia.
The route is the second Russian destination for the airline in one week after it also landed in Yekaterinburg on Saturday, October 16th.
According to the company, the two routes mark the start of flights to "another important market for flydubai and the UAE".
It commented that trade and tourism between the two countries is steadily growing and the introduction of the two services will provide "a welcome boost" to both sectors.
"Yekaterinburg and Samara may not be cities which are particularly well known to many people in this region, but once they begin to discover the opportunities there for business and leisure, they will understand the potential these routes hold," commented flydubai chief executive officer Ghaith Al Ghaith.
Established by the government of Dubai in March 2008, flydubai began commercial flights in June last year.
