Dubai's tourism sector will be given a boost next month when the emirate officially opens its new cruise terminal located in the Port Rashid complex.
The terminal will be able to handle four ships simultaneously and cater for the increased demand in cruises, while the building is based on a contemporary Arabic design with the aim of reflecting Dubai's rich heritage as a maritime centre. The exterior architecture features traditional domes, arches and carvings.
Tourist support infrastructure will also be available at the terminal including money exchange, ATMs, a duty free shop and a business centre with internet access.
The opening of the terminal will boost investment in Dubai's tourism sector. Last week, the Dubai government announced that it had signed an agreement with global management consultancy firm A.T. Kearney to help develop strategies for increasing foreign investment in the emirate.
