This is the start date of the 2010 America's Cup - and defender for the title Alinghi and its yacht club the Societe Nautique de Geneve (SNG) have announced Ras al-Khaimah will host it.
Fred Meyer, vice-commodore of the SNG, explained a purpose-built island will provide the teams, sponsors and fans with "an outstanding venue" for this 33rd competition.
He added the weather conditions will be ideal for a match in February and the location already has experience hosting a number of top-class sporting events such as ATP tennis and Formula One.
"In the end we settled on Ras al-Khaimah in particular because of the infrastructure in Al Hamra Village and because it has a great building sea breeze during the day making it good for these boats and safe for all concerned," stated Mr Meyer.
Established in 2000, Alinghi first won the 31st America's Cup, which was held in Auckland.
