Abu Dhabi-based airliner Etihad has announced a new codeshare agreement with Turkish Airlines.
The move, which may improve travel options for those travelling to and from the UAE, was announced yesterday (July 12th) and follows on from the launch of Etihad's commercial service to Istanbul on June 1st.
Under the agreement, Turkish Airlines flights from Istanbul to Abu Dhabi will now carry the EY flight identifier. The aim of the codeshare agreement is to provide a seamless service for Etihad customers in key desinations such as Bangkok, Johannesburg and Beijing.
"This latest codeshare agreement, Etihad's sixteenth, will also help to link Turkish expatriate communities around the world, as well as build business links between Turkey and the UAE," said Etihad's chief executive James Hogan.
The company has also recently announced a codeshare agreement with American Airlines, expanding links to the North American market.
Expanded services may make it easier for those buying property in the UAE to enter the emirates to sound out potential plots.
