There is a surge in demand for netbooks throughout the emirates, Jacky's Electronics has claimed.
According to the retailer, there has been a 40 per cent increase in netbook sales in the first six months of 2009 when compared to the same period last year.
The group said that the market is performing well across all vendors and channel partners and added that netbook sales now account for 20 per cent of the company's total revenue.
And with Etisalat rolling out the world's fastest mobile broadband this month, netbooks may be a particularly attractive option for business users in the emirate.
Looking forward, Jacky's Electronics general manager Jimmy Patel predicted: "Netbooks will continue to gain market share due to consumer demand, price points, portability, design and features."
He added that the netbook represents a big step in mobile computing, with expatriates who have brought property in Dubai said to be particularly fond of using the devices to keep in touch with friends and family.
