The Ras Al Khaimah Investment Authority (Rakia) has teamed up with Ecole Polytechnique Federale de Lausanne to establish a new campus in the northern emirate.
At a press conference yesterday (May 14th), Rakia said that the aim of the new building would be to develop leading-edge research programmes, graduate and post-graduate educational programmes.
In order to achieve the highest standards of research and innovation, the campus will feature the very latest technology and will promote leading-edge techniques for scientific inquiry.
"A key factor that will determine our long-term success is our ability to expand our research and scientific capabilities to match the needs of local industries," said Sheikh Saud Bin Saqr Al Qasimi, crown prince and deputy ruler of Ras Al Khaimah.
Last month, Rakia also announced that has commissioned two new power plants to support growth in Ras Al Khaimah.
Total investment in the two projects is thought to be in the region of $130 million.
