Upholding its reputation for grandeur and prestige, the Burj Dubai will boast more than 1,000 pieces of art when it finally opens later this year.
The developers have commissioned and selected the works to reflect the importance of cultural connections that is a central principle on which the Burj Dubai is founded.
"The 1,000 art pieces will include a wide range of contemporary artists as well as museum-standard historic art recognising the Gulf's unique heritage," said George Efstathiou, managing partner for SOM leading the Burj Dubai team.
Among the works will be World Voices, the largest permanent indoor work to be produced by acclaimed artist Jaume Plensa. His masterpiece is cast from titanium and bronze and is formed from 196 cymbals representing all the countries of the world.
The Burj Dubai is the tallest building in the world and stands at 816 metres. The developers have been inundated by extreme sports enthusiasts looking to skydive off the building when it opens to the public.
