Dubai is continuing to record a rise in visitor numbers, despite a lull in travel elsewhere in the globe.
According to the Gulf News, the total number of people travelling to Dubai reached an all-time high of 6,996,449 in 2008, cementing the emirate's growing reputation as one of the world's top tourist destinations.
"Having developed a highly desirable and increasingly diversified premium tourism product, Dubai continues to meet the needs of an ever-expanding audience," the paper surmised.
As a result of the strong visitor numbers, Dubai saw its revenues from the hotel sector hit AED13.4 billion in 2008, with amenities catering for leisure and business travellers alike.
Travelling to the emirate may be an excellent way to get a feel for property in Dubai before making an investment.
