One of Dubai's most eagerly anticipated tourist attractions has been tested ahead of its official launch later this year.
The Dubai Fountain, measuring 900 ft and located on the 30-acre Burj Dubai lake, is one of the most advanced water, light and sound displays in the world and tourist authorities expect it to become a major visitor attraction later this year.
Ahead of the grand opening, eager spectators can see a sneak preview of the audio-visual treat at 20:00 local time, when testing of the fountain will begin.
In addition to being one of the largest water displays in the world, the Dubai Fountain is also one of the tallest, with jets of water shooting up to 500 ft, equivalent to a 50-storey building.
The attraction has been designed with cooperation from some of the world's most renowned choreographers and water works specialists.
The Dubai Fountain was given its name in October 2008 after an international competition involving more than 4,000 participants.
