The Dubai Silicon Oasis Authority (DSOA) has become the first organisation to sign up to the new Build Safe UAE regulations.
At a signing ceremony today (March 16th) the body, which oversees the development of Dubai Silicon Oasis, expressed its commitment to safeguarding the health, safety and welfare standards of all Dubai property construction projects it is involved with.
Grahame McCaig, Build Safe UAE chairperson and general manager of Dutco Balfour Beatty, commented: "With DSOA as a member, we now have a major regulator that supports our campaign and vision to improve the current benchmark performance of all stakeholders in the UAE construction sector."
He said that he hoped that more private organisations will sign up to the standards when building new commercial property in Dubai, while other public institutions are also expected to join the non-profit organisations.
Build Safe UAE is an extension of a pilot project which began in Dubai. The company announced that it would be going national in September 2008.
