The Metro Green Line will open on time in March 2010, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced.
Peyman Younes Parham, director of the RTA's marketing and corporate communication department, told Emirates Business that in addition, the Red Line is still on target.
"We are on track to open up the entire Red Line. Trials were conducted last week and the project is on schedule," he told the journal.
The new tracks may prove an appealing asset for those considering buying property in Dubai.
Meanwhile, the RTA is also pushing ahead with development of new road transport links between Dubai and Sharjah, with the group opening up phase one of the Al Ittihad Road Improvement Project to traffic for the first time yesterday (February 25th).
The project will help to alleviate congestion in central Dubai and surrounding areas.
The RTA announced that it will significantly improve journey times between Dubai, Ras Al Khaimah and Umm Al Quwain.
