Soccer star Denilson Martins Nascimento has said that the UAE has been his second home and that he is considering settling down in Dubai at the end of his career.
The Brazilian made the comments after being honoured by the Dubai department of tourism and commerce marketing for his exploits during the just-concluded FIFA Club World Cup in Abu Dhabi that saw him win the Golden Shoe as the tournament's top scorer.
Denilson was playing for the Asian champions, South Korea's Pohang Steelers, the club to which he moved after playing in the UAE between 1999 and 2005.
During this time he played for the Pro League teams Al Shabab and Al Nasr, either side of a two-year spell at division one outfit Dubai Club.
The 33-year-old expressed his fondness for the lifestyle of the UAE and Dubai during the meeting with tourism officials.
Abu Dhabi beat bids by Australia and Japan to host the 2009 FIFA Club World Cup, which was won on December 19th by the European champions Barcelona.
