Abu Dhabi hotels spread festive cheer

Hotels in Abu Dhabi are spreading Christmas joy with a range of festive events.

Gulf News found that luxury hotels in the emirate were celebrating the season with carolling concerts and extravagant decorations as owners of commercial property in the UAE maximise investments.

According to the news provider, Emirates Palace boasts the tallest Christmas tree in Abu Dhabi at 40 feet. The tree took 24 hours to set up and has ornaments of a total weight of 160 kg.

Other hotels opted for some grand architectural landscaping. Dania Malki, marketing and PR manager at Le Meridien, told the news provider: "We didn't have one big tree that we lit during our ceremony on December 15th. Instead our art manager, Orlito Abeleto, worked for a few days to transform our outdoor garden into a winter village and arranged several small trees throughout it."

The Hilton Hotel, meanwhile, will hold its annual Carols by Candlelight event on the evening of Saturday 19th December, which will feature performances by local schools and the Hilton's own in-house band

Christmas events in Abu Dhabi this month have already included the St Andrew's Society's annual Scottish Christmas carol concert and a special dinner at the British Embassy.
