A two-day conference commenced yesterday (November 25th), which could be of interest to those with a commercial property in Dubai.
The Big 5 brings together construction and building leaders to discuss the future of the industry for the region.
It saw the announcement of the first developer and contractor cost index by Proleads, to be based on actual market prices.
The focus of the event - which is specifically geared at professionals - was on technology.
A range of subjects have been covered by speakers, including energy saving solutions and green environmental engineering.
Some of the speakers for the event included Simon Azam, chief executive officer for Canterra and Euan Mcewan, group chief executive officer at Currie and Brown.
General conclusions made at the event have been that there are positive signals for the future of the industry in the UAE, as many people think its prospects are greater than anywhere else worldwide and it is still considered as "the place to be".
The exhibition at the Dubai World Trade centre is said to be the only event that was bigger than last year's, filling all of the available space at the venue.
