Ras Al Khaimah 'suitable for America's Cup'

Ras Al Khaimah is a suitable location for the 33rd America's Cup, it was emphasised this week.

According to RAK Investment Authority, the entire United Arab Emirates are "extremely safe" and Ras Al Khaimah's navy, coast guard and police services will cooperate to ensure the event goes smoothly.

Dr Khater Massad is chief executive officer of the organisation and special advisor to Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and deputy ruler.

He explained: "The venue and all the visitors to Ras Al Khaimah in the coming weeks and months will be received in a similar friendly, peaceful and security-conscious way."

The America's Cup is due to take place in February 2010 and likely to visit will be thousands of fans from across the globe.
