DTCM: More business travellers for Dubai

Figures showing more international travellers are heading to Dubai could be good news for those with property in the United Arab Emirates.

A spokesperson from the Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) said: "Dubai is the ideal gateway for international companies to develop their business through the Middle East.

"The emirate's pioneering and enterprising image has led to Dubai being regarded as one of the world's most inspirational destinations."

DTCM added that Dubai's diversification of its economy, by expanding into other economic sectors apart from oil, had been key in the strength of its performance.

The comments come after last month, Dubai International Airport published figures showing it had handled in excess of 3.7 million passengers in August, compared to 3.3 million in 2008.

Its monthly passenger throughput had also surpassed 3.7 million for the month in July of this year.

The DTCM further commented that Dubai possessed a draw for companies wanting to develop their business in the Middle East, alongside Central Asia, North and East Africa and the eastern Mediterranean.
